چکیده

Abstract. HQM is an optical broad-band photometric monitoring program carried out since September 1988. We use a CCD camera at the MPIA 1.2m telescope. Fully automatic photometric reduction relative to stars in the frames is done within a few minutes after each exposure, thus interesting brightness changes can be followed in detail. The typical photometric error is 1–2% for a 17.5mag quasar. We here present lightcurves of 14 known violently variable sources and compare them with literature data. For two BLLac objects, 1E 1229+645 and 4C 56.27 (1823+568), this paper is the first variability study. We have also carried out POSS photometry to obtain indications for variability on a longer timescale.

The luminous ‘ Seyfert 1 ’ type II Supernova 1997 ab ?

We report the discovery of SN 1997ab, a supernova with a Seyfert 1 type spectrum similar to SN 1987F. SN 1997ab was first seen at B=14.7±0.5 on a digitized objective prism spectrum taken on April 11, 1996 for the Hamburg Quasar Survey with the Calar Alto 80cm Schmidt telescope and was automatically selected as a low redshift QSO candidate. Spectra and images taken with CAFOS at the 2.2m telesco...

Long-term optical variability properties of the Palomar-Green quasars

ABSTRACT We present results from a monitoring program of 42 quasars from the PalomarGreen sample. The objects were observed for seven years at the Wise Observatory, as part of a long term effort to monitor AGN of various types. This is the most extensive program of its kind carried out to date on a well-defined optically-selected quasar sample. The typical sampling interval is ∼ 40 days. One th...

A new wavelet - based approach for the automated treatment of large sets of lunar occultation data ⋆

Context. The introduction of infrared arrays for lunar occultations (LO) work and the improvement of predictions based on new deep IR catalogues have resulted in a large increase in the number of observable occultations. Aims. We provide the means for an automated reduction of large sets of LO data. This frees the user from the tedious task of estimating first-guess parameters for the fit of ea...

Theoretical Modeling of Weakly Lensed Polarized Radio Sources

In this paper we present the theoretical basis for the modeling of weakly gravitationally lensed extended sources that are polarized. This technique has been used in the past to constrain the mass profiles of galaxies projected against the jet of the quasar 3C9. Since then, work has been done to improve both the measurement and theoretical modeling of the lensing signal, which manifests itself ...
